Maharaja Bhog is a way of saying “Being a vegetarian has it’s own rewards too”. It is a total royal experience for the Indian thali lovers. It gives a wide array of Indian vegetarian delicacies served in your plate until you raise the white flag. The menu is well balanced & thought of to give you a good taste of sweet, spicy & sour flavors.
Ambiance: Leather upholstery, premium looking thalis, brightly lit place, spices framed into the walls. This is bound to make you feel like a Maharaja when you enter in.
Service: 10/10. Friendly smiling waiters who manage to force you to eat more with every helping of theirs. Once, a waiter serving Dahi wada was sad when he saw that I hadn’t tasted it yet… Yes that’s how passionately they feed you.
This is a Gujrathi/ Marwari thali place. Sit back, relax & enjoy the Maharaja Bhog experience while katoris are filled with sabzis, dals & sweets of your choice.
The farsan ( starters) always have 1 steamed ( dhokla varieties),1 fried ( stuffed ) & a dahi wada/ dal dhokli version. Pair it up with the variety of chutneys on offer.
Ask for the lasun chutney & pickled chillies which are only on demand.
Sabzis are so good that i end up eating some vegetables which I frown upon since childhood.
The Rotis/ puris are a wonderful accompaniment to them.
Meethi Dal & Kadhi complete the savoury part of the meal.
The khichdi is brilliance in simplicity & a must have for all khichdi lovers.
Make sure you keep space in your tummy for desserts. Cos 1 of the 3 will blow you away. It can be the halwa or the basundi or the seasonal aamras which i ended up gulping katoris of.
Pricing: Value for money can’t be explained better than a meal at Maharaja Bhog. 40 Dhs per person, Absolutely worth it.
Final word: This place has managed to convert carnivore friends of mine into veggie lovers. Need i say more?
