Al Afadhil is a popular restaurant from Sharjah, famous for its kebabs & Lassi. Been hearing a lot of positive reviews of the place. So, when the Dubai branch opened up, it gave the necessary push to finally try this place. Located in Karama behind Ramee Royal Hotel, I discovered that this lane has 3-4 newly opened restaurants, should be visiting again.
Ambiance: Done in a traditional Mughlai way with heavy furniture & lighting. It would have given a royal feel to the place had the dressing up of the waiters & serving cutlery matched up to it.
Service: You have to be patient with your orders, as nothing will arrive before its stipulated time. So, ordering a Seekh Kebab in the middle of the meal & asking the server to hasten it won’t help. The waiters put in an attentive shift & make sure you are well taken care of.
The Menu is short, just 10 dishes I guess. I like places which focus on core sspecialties rather than a 10 page menu.
Lucknowi Kebabs: You literally have to scoop it off the plate. Its a super smooth minced meat kebabs lightly flavored with black pepper. Would recommend for repeats!
Shami Kebabs: The only downer dish of the evening. The Kebabs didn’t hold together & were grainy as well.
Seekh Kebabs: Super tender kebabs that could be rolled up in a paratha for a great kebab roll.
Daal Fry: Very simple yet amazing flavor with green chillies added in for the extra bite.
Paratha: Very light paratha that can double up as Roomali Roti. Very good!
Tamarind Chutney deserves a special mention as it is almost as perfect as it can get with the right consistency & tanginess which is great to pair up with the kebabs.
Lassi: The other downer after high expectations was the Lassi. It is basically sweet yoghurt which you have to “eat” & not “drink”.
Pricing: The pricing can be deceptive as every dish costs 14-16 Dhs yet a meal for 2 would cost around 110-120 Dhs.
Final Verdict: Super Kebabs & Dal. Go for a kebab experience!
