Per Te always cheers me up. The Jumeirah branch is my favorite Italian restaurant . So, reading about the Business Bay branch opening up was just another reason to visit this place.
Right up we were informed that the Pizza oven hasn’t started yet due to some technical permissions at that place. Fair enough! But,that means Wifey is disappointed & has to re-think her main course. The pizza issue needs to be highlighted somewhere on Zomato/ their FB pages.
Ambiance: This place has a cafe feel to it. Small sitting area with a wooden furniture & various Italian products to purchase.
There are a variety of Pastas/Oils/ flavored sprays/ sauces & chocolates that you can shop for with abandon & glee.
So much detailing had gone in the decor that the Baby Chair was also in sync with the wooden decor . They have an outdoor seating area as well which will serve up well once the weather gets better. The Open Kitchen exists where we watched as our Dessert was masterfully put together.
This place is also holding breakfast in high esteem as was evident from the menu & the various Paninis/ Sandwiches/muffins on offer.
Service: It was fabulous. Orders were taken & served in time. The Chef came out to have a talk about the food. They have an array of food flavor sprays (Truffle/Chilli/garlic etc.) to enhance the food flavors which were given to us by the staff.
The complimentary focaccia & the trio of dips (Pesto/Sun-dried tomatoes/ Arrabiata) were spot on as usual. Add to it the Olive oil & Balsamic that acted as our 2 additional dips.
Mushroom n Goat cheese crostini: Wild mushrooms with a lovely texture & a salty hit from the goats cheese on a crusty bread. Sprinkle some olive oil on the toast & balsamic on the rocket leaves. Rock n Roll!
Strawberry Rose sangria: Good strawberry essence coming in, rose a little subdued. Refreshing but a little too sweet!
Penne Arrabiatta: A good Italian place wouldn’t get this or the Carbonara wrong & Per Te was no exception to the rule. Al dente pasta in a spicy tomato sauce.
Seafood Risotto: The Clams were perfect, Shrimps spot on, asparagus crunchy, only issue was the base was little salty due to the excess butter. Rice could have been left with a little more bite in it. Seafood flavor depth missing. Miss!
Lieto di choccolato: When all seems lost in this world, chocolate saves the day! the dessert a long review of its own. It was food art on a plate & some amazing flavors. Dense slightly bitter chocolate brick in the center, passion fruit creamy semifredo, a creamy coffee sauce that took my attention, zesty orange segment to add in the freshness & berries with some berry syrup. Did I miss anything… yes, the part when we didn’t talk from the time it came on our table till we scraped the last scoop off it. I don’t know how a Michelin star dessert tastes, but this would be pretty close to it.
Pricing: It was 240 Dhs for 2 pax, slightly pricey according to me.
Final Verdict: Food is good, but need to fire up the Pizza Oven for us to visit them & work on the risotto. Till then, Jumeirah Per Te it is.
