I always believe a restaurant should deliver on their Core proposition rather than become a food for all occasions place. Yalla Momos is located in the food lane of Karama & when it started was the first places to serve Momos.
Now what is a Momo… It’s a Nepalese/ East Indian version of a dumpling where minced veggies/meat is encased in a dumpling & then steamed or fried. These are small gems with wafting steam which gushes out once they are broken open. Best enjoyed with a cup of hot tea on the side, it has the range of being a snack – dinner in itself.
Yalla Momos delivers the best Momos in town & comparable to the best ever I have tasted on the tea gardens of Darjeeling & Gangtok.
Ambiance: Tiny hole in the wall place with an outdoor seating option. It is best enjoyed in the winters with chilly breeze & sitting outdoors.
Service: Friendly & homely. The owners ask you for feedback every time you visit for the last 2 years.
This is about Momos, Steamed or Fried, Chicken or Veg or Spinach &Cottage Cheese, order everything until you zoom on to your favorite.
Personally, the Steamed Chicken Momos are my must have every time.
Or, you can opt for the fried Chicken Momos
They once came up with a tri-colored version on India’s Independence day
The 3 C Momos... Chillies, Cheese & Capsicum are a small variation from the regular ones with the bite of the chillies, a great flavor in itself.
The 2 Sauces, a milder one & a spicy one are great accompaniments.
Wai wai: In case you have stayed in eastern India, you would be familiar to this multi faceted Noodles. Turn it into a chaat or soup it or just the Instant noodles way, this is an all time favorite.
Maggi Noodles: The quintessential Late night snack for Indians is Maggi Instant Noodles. Yalla Momos does a great version by adding in veggies for you.
Kadak chai to accompany.
Value For Money: Absolutely.
Final Word: In case you love momos/ dim sums/dumplings, look no further…Yalla go for it!
