Hearty Breakfast @ Karachi Darbar

Karachi Darbar has managed to achieve 1 great objective… create a standardized Pakistani chain of restaurants. I was suprised that when I last checked, there were 18 restaurants in Dubai alone. Well, if Qusais alone has 4 restaurants, I imagine 18 is a small number for Dubai.  This is truly the hearty breakfast place & if you either watch what you eat or frown at the oil or need cutlery for your breakfast… read no more.

Ambiance: It is a standard ambiance of Karachi darbar, the wooden chairs, the marble topped tables, the white ceramic plates & the slight disregard for cleanliness.

Service: Is prompt & you will be treated to freebies if it’s a weekend.

We ordered the hearty breakfast of Chhana, Kheema, Nihari & egg Bhurji to go with some Parathas.

Surprise we were served complimentary Kheer which was delicious. Milky, right amount of sweet & Vermicelli, should have had a serving of Puris to dip in to it.

Kheema: Minced mutton & peas cooked together for a meaty  breakfast.

Nihari: Called the breakfast of champions, this is ideally cooked overnight where the meat breaks down to form a very hearty meaty gravy. The story goes that a breakfast of this was good enough to keep a worker go on for a day with no additional calories needed. This may not be the best Nihari I have had but certainly was good enough.

Channa: Whole chickpeas cooked with potatoes for those vegetarian friends.

Have it with their plus sized parathas.

Pricing: 35 Dhs for a breakfast for 3, slightly lesser than what you pay for a single fresh juice in an expensive breakfast place.

Final Verdict: Go in for a total Pakistani hearty breakfast experience. It is ok to ditch your eggs & mueslis once in a while.
