Italian food with a view@ Vivaldi by Alfred Russo

So it was that time of the year again. You wish you get any younger but the calendar says otherwise. The only solace can be your love for food & the promise that the next year will taste even better. Well, atleast I had a good start.

Ambiance: One of the strong reasons to select this place was the view it offered. And Boy, what a view! The Illuminated Dhows ploughing their way through the calm waters of the Creek, the soft background music & the towering skyline of Dubai. Top 10 Best Views in Dubai guaranteed.

The place has a wine cellar & an open kitchen where you can interact with the chefs.

The outdoor blue lit gallery offers a lounging drinking experience. Too bad we didn’t take any picture of the outdoors without us posing in them 😀

Service: Meh! They seem understaffed as we had to wait and wave and wave and again wave to get their attention. We werent served olive oils with the breads, the time taken after finishing the meal to the billing was so long that Wifey managed a tour of the hotel with the Little Critic.

While we waited for our orders, we were served one of the freshest bread baskets. The 3 textures of bread from grainy to crumbly to moist made it a wonderful start to the meal. Too bad, no olive oil to dip it in.

The fresh green olives looked as if they have never been in brine & tasted juicily fresh without any saltiness to it. The fried anchovies presented in a quirky way also were on the mark.

Maricujana: Essentially a fruit mocktail, but the passion fruit flavor came out on top which I also prefer.

Paccheri with porcini mushrooms: This dish was Gobsmackingly good! The waiter delivered the al dente promise & the porcini mushrooms with the creamy sauce made it the dish of the day for us. This is the kind of food that people return for!

Grilled vegetable pizza: What happens to veggies when you grill them & put them on a pizza base & then bake it? They become squishy & completely lose their texture. It was like biting into the pizza base as there was no topping texture to say. Avoid!

Tiramisu: The Tiramisu was served with a tiramisu ice cream & was one of the most light, aerated & fluffy tiramisus ever. Not too much coffee & just the right amount of sweetness. Sinful!

Pricing: 205 for the above meal for 2. Slightly higher pricing but then the view makes up for it.

Final Verdict: This is a great special celebration, view to kill type of place with some good food served. Only if they improve on their service a bit.
